Ezekiel 37

Ezekiel's vision of the valley of dry bones coming to life is probably the most famous section of the whole book. Have you ever thought about what that would have looked like? Do you think Ezekiel might have been terrified of what he saw?

This vision emphasizes that God can bring dead things to life. It also emphasizes that God desires to live with and among His people. Ever since Adam and Eve disobeyed God and were kicked out of the Garden of Eden, mankind has been under a curse. One of the effects of this curse is distance from God, a separation. Humanity has always struggled to know God, to feel His presence, to be confident of His love. Jesus came to break the curse.

Through Jesus, God reveals that His desire has always been a relationship. He desires more than religious rules and strict adherence to a moral code; He wants to be in an intimate relationship where conversation is two-way, open and honest.
