Ephesians 1:15–23

Last week, we launched our series titled Rooted Return from the book of Ephesians. We looked at Ephesians 1:1–14 and learned that verses 3–14 form one single sentence in the original Greek.

This week, we turn to Ephesians 1:15–23. Believe it or not, here we come across another single sentence—this time in the form of a prayer.

Last week we discussed how Paul’s words in verses 3–14 keep us rooted in God and returning to the truth. Now, as we come to Paul’s prayer, what are some things we can draw from this one-sentence prayer?

Do we pray like this?

Do we believe that God hears us?

Do we pray with such passion and expectation?

Do we believe God still works like this in our lives today?

How does this prayer, once again, root us in who God is?

Between now and Sunday, take time to soak in Ephesians 1:15–23. Read it many times. Let it wash over you. Read it in several translations. Read it as if the prayer is for you. Pray it for someone else.
