Men's Breakfast and Work Bee

Men's Breakfast and Work Bee

This Saturday 8:30 AM (July 25th)

Transformation Men! We need your help!

On Saturday July 25 we’re having a men's breakfast followed by a work bee. There are lots of jobs needing to be done at the church.

During breakfast, we'll gather together for a time of fellowship and a spiritual word. Then, we'll put our faith in action by working to maintain, repair and improve the building that we've been given to meet in.

Bring some basic tools, shovels, rakes and wheelbarrow if you have one. Please call or email Mark Woods for more information.

Even if you're not able to stay for the workday, please come. Ralph is organizing the men's breakfast, and he wants guys to come who like eating Finnish pancakes, eggs, and sausages.

Come for as little or as much time as you are able. We'd love to see you.

Break In Update

New Plans

As you know, the church got broken into last Thursday. I wanted to let you know the following steps we will be taking to prevent this in the future:

1. For now, we will be securing the interior cafe doors with deadbolts this coming Saturday.

2. We've purchased two new steel doors, which will be installed by the end of August.

3. We'll be installing a security system inside the church that will trigger an alarm if you don't know a passcode. The alarm will notify a security company, who will then contact a trusted individual or the police.

4. This Saturday, we'll be attempting to fix the exterior security lights over top of every outside door.

5. We will be installing an interior security camera in the foyer.

We want to make sure that we are taking steps to keep safe God’s building and you, our church family.

Be A Berean

God's Story: Faithful Father

God has told Abraham, "Through you, all the nations of the earth will be blessed." (Genesis 12:1)

We see Abraham's family grow. There's dysfunction in the family. There's famine. The family ends up in Egypt. The family becomes a nation.

400 years go by. 400 years of struggle and slavery, and at last, God rescues the people, from the land of their slavery.  He promises to lead them to a new land, a beautiful land reminding us of the Garden of Eden, but first, he must lead them them into the wilderness. A terrifying place. Would they trust him?

In the wilderness, he tells them, "I've carried you. I've brought you to myself. Now obey me. You'll be my own special treasure. You'll be an example to all the people of the earth, so that when people look at you, they see the glory of God." (Paraphrase of Exodus 19:3-6)

Could they do it? Would they be a good example to all the people of the earth, reflecting God's glory?

This story stretches all the way from Exodus through Deuteronomy. If I can give you some reading: Start with Exodus 19. Then you make your way to read an overview of the wilderness wanderings in Deuteronomy 1, 2, and 3.

Finally, settle on Numbers 21:1-9 as the final story in preparation for Sunday's sermon. This story of the bronze snake finds occurs right at the end of the wilderness wanderings.

How well do you think Abraham's family is doing? Are they reflecting God's glory?

Looking forward to Sunday!

Jeremy
