There is a lot going on in this passage of Scripture. As you read ask the Lord to speak to you. What do you think the author of John wanted his audience to know about Jesus? What do you think he wanted to communicate about what was to take place after Jesus' ascension?
Chew on this. Do you think of God as a missionary? In verse 21 Jesus says, "As the Father has sent me, even so, I am sending you." A missionary is someone who is sent, Jesus was sent and then He sends His followers into the world. Do you consider yourself to be a follower of Jesus? If you answered yes to that question, then when Jesus says, "So I am sending you" He is talking about you! God, the missionary, trained and raised up missionaries and then sends them out just like Jesus was sent! What do you think about this? Have you been living sent?
