This weekend will be week three of our series "Habits That Lead to the Heart of God." I invite you to read James 5:13-20.

I may have just titled my sermon with two of the most intimidating Christian words: "Confession and Community," but take heart.

These can be some of the most rewarding and transforming practices that we can participate in. These can become habits that truly do lead us to the heart of God.

As you read over James 5, think about it in terms of the private Christian life versus the communal Christian life. Think about it in terms of confession of sin. Think about it in terms of prayer, not just private prayer, but prayer for each other.

Perhaps consider the very common and necessary Christian idea that we confess our sins to God, mostly privately, but what if we were to trust someone else enough in our life to be able to be vulnerable and tell them about these sins? How would that help us? What's your reaction to this?
