Be A BereanFamily Matters; Unfamous Servants You are probably familiar with many “big names” in the Bible - famous people, giants of the faith, like Abraham, Moses, Noah, Elijah, King David, Solomon, the apostles Paul and Peter and others like this. You may well say “It’s really great to hear about such people but I’m not a giant of the faith like they were.” Well, I would like to talk to you about some of God’s “unfamous” servants that we are told about in the Bible, just ordinary people, some of them have their name mentioned only once in the Bible, and some of them, we’re told about but we aren’t even given their name. So, I want to just share with you a little bit about some of these unfamous people who just humbly served God behind the scenes with no fanfare or fame and yet they’ve been included in God’s Word, the Bible, to teach us. We will look not only at some of the things that they did which would not be headline material but were significant to God as he had it recorded for all mankind to read. We will also think about how their actions and service contributed to the needs of others, the building up of the family of God and the strengthening of God’s people, and how they reflected Paul’s words in Colossians 3.23 “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for men”. Come and join us to learn from some of the unfamous ones. Blessings, Jeremy, Gene and Caleb |
