In John chapter 4 we read of Jesus travelling through Samaria (the Jews avoided Samaria because they avoided contact with Samaritans, but Jesus intentionally travelled that way) and he has a conversation with a Samaritan woman about worship. He speaks about three different kinds of worship. He said that some people worship, not really knowing what or who they are worshipping. He, then spoke of some who worship with an intellectual understanding of the one they are worshipping, but without any real, personal encounter with the one being worshipped. Finally, he speaks about the fact that true worship that the Father is looking for is worship "in spirit and in truth". In other words, a worship that is sincere and from the heart and in which the worshipper is in vital connection with God as they worship, so that it involves their inner being, not just their actions or words. 

On Sunday, we will be digging into what it means to worship God in spirit and in truth.
